This was shot May 15, 2010 at New Mexico Tech, while we were watching our friend here graduate.

I had to climb a small hill behind the presentation podium to get this shot, as there were several hundred people onhand to watch their respective graduates receive their sheepskins, making the classic “front” shot unobtainable unless I had a sturdy ladder.

So I found myself having to be creative.

I’m getting used to my 70-300mm lens, but I’m still not completely comfortable with it.  Perhaps we just have to get to know each other  better.  Maybe she’s just not the cheap date I thought she was.
